It's one of the best-known car chases of all time: Steve McQueen, as Detective Frank Bullitt, driving at breakneck speed through the streets of San Francisco in a Highlander Green Ford Mustang. The chase wouldn't come off well for the villains (or the gas station that went up in flames with them), but McQueen would drive off into the sunset and into movie history. In 2008, 40 years later, Ford would offer a Bullitt that, unlike its 2001 incarnation, would be true to the Ford Mustang GT 390 fastback made famous by the movie, right down to the body styling, Highlander Green paint job and the signature sound of its exhaust system.

This Bullit Mustang is still being driven by its original owner. It has been redone with a striking matte black finish, and has nearly no chrome, save for the Bullitt "gas cap" that replaces the usual Mustang version. The equally attractive interior combines classic touches (like the turned-aluminum dash and recessed gauges) with modern touches, like an LCD nav/info display.

But it's the mechanical features that make this car a modern classic. For starters, there's the 4.6L 3V engine, which provides more horsepower than the base model. In addition, the owner has made several upgrades to what was already a spiffy ride, including a Magnaflow muffler, BBK Ceramic coated long tube headers, BBK off road (O/R) x-pipe, BBK throttle body, Ford Hot Rod racing cams, Roush Short Throw shifter, Nitto tires, Saleen 5-spoke wheels, and ultra-bright 10,000k HID xenon headlights. The car has been tuned with a SCT livewire tuner.
With all these extras, the car pushes an effortless 390 horsepower.
