was M998 Series High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle,
that would be abbreviated

and after the Gulf War,
civilian demand led to a collaboration
between AM General and GM,
which would result in three vehicles
-- the Hummer, H2 and H3 --
being produced between 1992 and 2009.
While the Hummer was phased out of civilian production,
